Course overview

An Operating System (OS) is the software that manages a computer’s hardware and software resources, providing essential services like file management, process scheduling, and user interface. Common OS examples include Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

Servers are specialized computers or software programs that provide services to other computers (clients) over a network. They host websites, manage databases, run applications, and handle email or file sharing. Server OS like Windows Server or Linux-based distributions (e.g., Ubuntu Server) are optimized for stability, performance, and remote management.

Together, operating systems and servers form the backbone of modern computing and internet services.
